Motorists face two more months of disruption in Alexandria due to roadworks being carried out.
Two sets of roadworks in the town, at Main Street and Bonhill Bridge, have been causing long tailbacks in recent weeks and prompted West Dunbartonshire Council to apologise after the delays prompted a storm of social media protest.
A member of the council’s team, writing on the authority’s Facebook page, said: “We have spoken to the contractor and asked that they minimise inconvenience to both road network users and local residents, also that they keep residents advised of any works adjacent to their properties.”
A council spokesperson added: “We would like to apologise for any disruption experienced by drivers due to essential works being undertaken at both Bonhill Bridge and Main Street, Alexandria.
“The work being carried out at Bonhill Bridge is necessary ahead of planned improvements being made at the road’s junction in the coming months, which will ease congestion at peak times.
“We appreciate residents’ patience.”
