Dumbarton People’s Theatre’s sold out pantomime, ‘Freezin’ opened at the Denny Civic Theatre on Saturday, December 8 and will run until the following Saturday (December 15) with curtain up each night at 7.30pm.

‘Freezin’, which was written by club members, is about the mythical town of ‘Drumtartan’ being condemned to permanent winter due to an evil spell cast by the Queen, played by Sharon Rowatt.

Along with her dithering husband, King Donald (Gareth Williams), they keep the kingdom trapped within a wall of ice but the townspeople fight back.

The Dame, Augusta Ayr, is John Maltman, who leads the challenge along with her two likeable sons, Logan and Chanter played by Robbie Hail and young Ben Miller and Chanter has a very lively pet cow, Maisie (Ross Kelbie).

Romance is in the air for Dame Augusta and Logan with George Hawthorn as the Duke and Louise Brodie as his beautiful daughter, Freya.

The ‘goodies’ make a spectacular escape from ‘Drumtartan’ and set about a plan to remove the evil Royals.

They are assisted by the magical elves played by Luke Gregory, Eve Gallacher and Andrew Russell.

Completing the cast will be many familiar local faces and a supporting chorus. The Rev’d Ian Miller makes an appearance and doesn’t need a dog collar for his role!

Publicity officer Janette Barns, said: “The first thing you’ll notice are the very colourful costumes and the clever and appropriate scenery.

“Dot Moir and Pat Green are responsible for the wardrobe and Wendy Cairns for the set design as well as leading a team of back stage workers with Allison Green on properties.

“The panto is a big team effort for the club with many willing hands making sure our community enjoys a great festive experience.”

The Director is Debbie Chalmers with Siobhan McCulloch assisting. Jackie Fosh is in charge of the music.

The tickets are officially sold out but if there are any returns they will be made available at the Box Office.

Doors open 7pm.
