POLICE in Dumbarton are appealing for the public to look out for a man whose car was found apparently abandoned in the Arrochar area.

A number of members of the public contacted police with reports about a Volkswagen Golf GTI belonging to Thomas Saunders (58) from Edinburgh, which appears to have been abandoned near to a forestry track in the Ardgartan area.

Police have been making enquiries regarding his whereabouts.

The Arrochar mountain rescue team are also taking part in the search, which resumed at first light on Monday.

Thomas is described as white, of medium build, with green eyes and short white/grey hair. He may not be clean shaven.

Inspector Alan Paterson from Dumbarton police station said: “We are becoming increasingly concerned about Thomas’s wellbeing and are appealing any members of the public who are walking in the area to please keep a look out for Thomas.

“I would also urge any friends or family of Thomas to please get in touch to assist with our enquiries to locate him.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Dumbarton police station via 101, quoting incident number 1270 of Friday, December 28, 2018."
