Today's trip down memory lane takes us back 15 years to the launch of new fitness centres in Dumbarton and the Vale
Here's how the Reporter told the story back on Wednesday, January 21, 2004...
NEW Cosmopolitan Health Fitness Centres have been launched in the Vale of Leven Academy and Our Lady and St Pat’s.
These new centres are designed to provide people with all they need to become more active, healthier and happier.
Located in four West Dunbartonshire high schools, the service aims to offer quality, affordable leisure suites close to home and workplaces.
Open every evening, each is packed with easy-to-use equipment, changing and shower accommodation and staffed by qualified fitness instructors.
Duncan McDonald, convener of commercial and technical services, was at the launch and said: “The health stats of the West of Scotland, including West Dunbartonshire are amongst the worst in Europe.
“By providing these centres our aim is to help make West Dunbartonshire a healthier place to live and work. We need your help — if you make a commitment to make your lifestyle more active by using one of our facilities, we’ll be committed to helping you succeed.”
