A West Dunbartonshire aquarium is offering people the chance to sleep under the ocean, surrounded by sharks.

Sleepovers at the Loch Lomond Sea Life Aquarium, Balloch, gives both kids and adults the chance to have a fin-tastic time.

But you will need to be brave as you will be spending the night under the largest collection of sharks in Scotland, as well as lots of beautiful brightly coloured tropical species including ‘Finding Nemo’ clown fish.

Groups can choose where they sleep for the night from several different areas in the aquarium.

They can set up camp under the ocean tunnel, next to the bay of ray fish, alongside the clown fish kingdom tank or even at the side of the popular otter enclosure.

The Sea Life centre started hosting sleepovers in 2011 and they have become extremely popular with many children’s groups, including the scouts and brownies.

Kathryn Angel, general manager at Sea Life Loch Lomond, said: “We host sleepovers most Friday and Saturday nights throughout the year and many of our groups come back year on year and tell us that it’s the highlight of their event calendar.

“We love giving children and adults the chance to experience sleeping under the ocean, it really is a fin-tastic experience.”

The centre also has a cinema with 300 seats, so the children can watch a film in the evening before settling down for the night.

Most groups tend to be between 20 to 50 people, but the sea life centre has also hosted giant sleepovers with people sleeping throughout the entire aquarium.

Children need to make sure they don't forget their pyjamas, sleeping bag, roll mat or pillow and they must be supervised by an adult.
