Love is in the air at Asda after the supermarket launched its search for the region's sweethearts ahead of the most romantic day of the year.

The Dumbarton branch, in St James retail park, is on the lookout for locals who have been married for a number of years or have been in long-term civil partnerships so they can help them celebrate Valentine's Day in style.

Maybe you even met and fell in love in a supermarket aisle in the store, or your eyes locked while you were picking up your fruit and vegetables.

The selected winners will be invited down to the store on Thursday, February 14, to receive a special prize of Valentine's Day treats, including luxury chocolates and a bouquet of flowers, to help celebrate their long-standing love.

The community champion at Asda in Dumbarton, said: “There are couples in our store who we’ve seen shopping together for years and we’ve no doubt that some of these regular customers could be in with a chance of winning.”

Garry Scott, general store manager at Asda Dumbarton, added: “We know we’ve lots of romantics around the area and what better way to celebrate Valentine’s Day than by inviting them to store to share the love.

"We’re appealing for couples from across the area to put themselves forward.”

Competition entries will be accepted up to 4pm on Sunday, February 10, and should include full names, contact details and a photocopy of your marriage or civil partnership certificate as proof of longevity of relationship.

Post entries to Asda Dumbarton Longest Married Couple, Havas PR, 1st Floor, 26 Palmerston Place, Edinburgh, EH12 5AL or email asdascotland@havas.com.
