A VALE man threw a full pint of beer over his ex-partner in a row at a Balloch pub.

Steven Burns left the woman soaking wet after the attack in the beer garden of the Tullie Inn on July 8.

The 33-year-old, of Colquhoun Drive in Alexandria, appeared at Dumbarton Sheriff Court on Friday for sentencing after pleading guilty at a previous hearing to a charge of domestically-aggravated assault after which Sheriff William Gallacher asked for a background report from social workers.

Fiscal depute Martina McGuigan told the court: “At 7pm the witness was in the pub with friends. They had been there for about an hour when she saw the accused come in to the beer garden area.

“A short time later the accused joined two friends, then got up, walked towards the table where his former partner and friends were sitting, and threw his full pint of beer over her, saturating her face and top.”

Burns was placed on a community payback order which will see him placed under social workers’ supervision for 12 months.

He will also have to attend the West Dunbartonshire PAIR programme, which works with people convicted of domestic abuse.
