A SECOND Nando’s restaurant is set to open in Glasgow City Centre, it has been announced.

The new chicken place, in St. Enoch Centre, will be part of the multi-million pound redevelopment currently underway to create a new leisure offering which includes a nine-screen VUE cinema as well as nine restaurants and enhanced retail space.

Since opening in 2009, Nando’s has proved a firm favourite in the shopping centre and the new 3,890 sq ft restaurant will occupy a prime location within the new restaurant quarter on the first floor, directly adjacent to the entrance to the cinema.

The current unit in St. Enoch Square will continue to offer both dining and takeaway services for the world famous Afro-Portuguese style peri-peri chicken.

Peter Atkinson, senior acquisitions manager at Nando’s, said: “Our restaurant in St. Enoch Centre has been very successful so it was an easy decision to become part of the new leisure offering within the centre which will allow us to meet the high levels of demand for Nando’s within Glasgow City Centre.”

Graeme Jones, at Sovereign Centros, added: “Nando’s is a key addition to the enhanced leisure and F&B offering being created at St. Enoch Centre which will attract an additional two million people to the centre every year.”

Nando’s and the further eight units in the new restaurant quarter will complement St. Enoch Centre’s existing food court – The Atrium – which attracts over three million visitors every year and is home to a range of dining options including Di Maggio’s, KFC, Greggs, Subway, and Wongs.
