West Dunbartonshire Council is urging residents in Dumbarton and the Vale to have their say on which projects in the area should benefit from community funding.

Over 60 projects have been shortlisted as part of the fourth phase of community budgeting.

Residents can vote for the causes they feel are the most deserving at an event taking place on Saturday, February 23.

The applications include requests for funding for playpark upgrades, new heating in community halls, a cycling project, radio equipment, to update an urban garden for young people and set up costs for a new support group.

Among the groups to have made applications include West Dunbartonshire Community Foodshare, Loch Lomond Rugby Club, Renton Craigandro football club, Bellsmyre Digital Community and Friends of Levengrove.

Councillor Caroline McAllister, deputy leader and spokesperson for community empowerment, said: “We were delighted with the high volume and high quality of applications for this funding, so thanks to everybody who got in touch.

“We now need your help to choose how the money is divided up. It won’t be easy because there are so many brilliant causes, but I’d encourage you to come down to the event and have your say.”

As well as securing money to invest in valuable projects, groups will receive full support from the council’s communities team and West Dunbartonshire Community Volunteer Services (WDCVS).

The voting event takes place at a drop-in event in Clydebank Town Hall on February 23 between 11am and 2pm.

Residents are invited to come along and cast their vote on how the funding should be allocated.

Votes can also be made online at wdn.communitychoices.scot, however, votes cast at the event will have a higher weighting than online votes.
