Scots comedian Karen  Dunbar has been announced as the host of a major awards ceremony for businesses in West Dunbartonshire.

The stand-up comic and Chewin' The Fat star will be the compere at the West Dunbartonshire Working4Business awards in May.

The Working4Business Awards provide an opportunity for top businesses, organisations and individuals to appear in the spotlight to celebrate their business achievements.

A spokeswoman for the ceremony said: “We are delighted to announce that the 2019 Working4Business Awards will be hosted once again by Karen Dunbar."

Back by popular demand, Karen has trod the boards in everything from Glasgow panto to West End Shakespeare.

She has also performed the works of Burns and Shakespeare, been a DJ in New York, and appeared at the opening ceremony of the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in front of an estimated global TV audience of one billion people.

Karen started off in the sketch show Chewin’ the Fat, then went on to star in her own programme, The Karen Dunbar Show, which received four Golden Rose nominations.

There is still time for companies to submit applications for up to three of the categories in the awards, which are free to enter.

Laureen Preston, operations/care manager of Alltogether Care Services, who won the Excellence in Customer Service category last year, said: “Achieving this category only makes us strive to do better and continue to think outside the box.
