A MAN has been sentenced to three months in prison for leaving his former partner terrified after he went to her home in Alexandria and forced open the door so he could get his tracksuit trousers back.

Paul Ferguson appeared at Dumbarton Sheriff Court, from custody, on February 22 after pleading guilty to a charge of threatening or abusive behaviour at an earlier hearing.

The 24-year-old was previously granted bail for a drug treatment and testing order, but was remanded in custody on February 7 after allegedly breaching bail conditions by contacting his ex-partner.

On Friday, fiscal depute Meghan Glancey told the court that Ferguson and the victim had been in an on and off relationship for five years and an arrangement had been made the night before the offence took place for Ferguson to pick up a pair of trousers.

Ms Glancey added: “Around 1pm on December 20, the complainer heard a chap at the door and the accused shouting through the letterbox ‘I just want my trackies, I’ll kick the f*****g door in if you don’t answer it.’”

Sheriff John Hamilton imposed a three month prison sentence on Ferguson, reduced from five.
