THE parents of an Alexandria toddler who has died after battling two types of cancer have paid tribute to their "gorgeous wee butterfly."

Olivia McNamee passed away on Monday at 4pm at Robin House Hospice, in Balloch with her family by her side, including her devastated parents Jim and Kellyann.

Olivia was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukamia (ALL) on October 5, 2017, when she was just four months old.

After beating the disease twice, helped by a bone marrow transplant from her four-year-old sister Ellie, Olivia’s parents were dealt another crushing blow last month when they were told she had Acute Myeloblastic Leukemia (AML) a very aggressive cancer, that usually affects adults.

Doctors said they were on new grounds with Olivia as they could find no other cases world-wide where a child had developed another cancer so soon after receiving a transplant and going into remission.

The little girl had spent most of her life being treated at Glasgow's Royal Hospital for Children and the family paid tribute to the dedication of staff, who cared for her.

Jim, 36, posted on Facebook: "Today (Monday) at 4 o'clock our world's crashed down and our gorgeous wee Olivia Pauline Mcnamee passed away and gained her angel wings.

"We are absolutely devastated and want to thank everyone of you for your support and prayers and good wishes.

"Olivia is forever gold and we are so proud of her for the battle she put up against not one but two horrible cancers.

"Sleep tight our gorgeous wee butterfly, love mum, dad and Ellie."

The family are from Alexandria but have been staying at Marion House, which provides free accommodation for families of children being treated at the children's hospital.

Jim and Kellyann have been inundated with messages of support from family, friends and members of public after breaking the news that their little girl had passed away.

Lisa Simpson posted on Facebook: "Today heaven gained yet another precious little angel.

"Olivia you fought so hard princess. Thoughts are with you Jim, Kellyann, and little Ellie. Fly high little one."

Sarahjane Galbraith said: "Jim Mcnamee and Kellyann Mcnamee my heart is broken for you both.

"You guys were one of the first families that welcomed us at Marion’s house such a loving family.

"No words I can say will take away the pain. your daughter fought so so hard until her little body got tired. She will forever be gold shine bright like a diamond baby girl heartful thoughts to you."
