A driver was reported for driving offences after police carried out road checks at Renton Primary School this week.

In total, 16 vehicles were stopped and eight drivers were warned about their manner of driving, in addition to the one that was reported.

The road policing unit conducted the checks as part of a national Vulnerable Road User campaign.

In 2017, vulnerable road users accounted for 43 (29 per cent) of the 146 deaths in Scotland's roads.

The campaign aims to interact with road users and raise awareness of the risks associated with vulnerable road users, including drivers, cyclists and pedestrians, through education and enforcement.
