Today's trip down memory lane takes us back ten years to when pupils had a ball at a sports festival.

Here's how we told the story in the Reporter back on Tuesday, March 10, 2009...

SOME sporty kids had a great time competing in a festival of netball.

The primary six and seven pupils from three schools took part in the event which is part of an ongoing drive to get more young girls to take part in sport.

The Active Schools department at West Dunbartonshire Council organised the series of netball events, which has seen demand double since a similar event last year.

School children from Aitkenbar, St Patrick’s and St Michael’s Primaries all took part in the first of four netball afternoons.

The festival at the Alexandria CE Centre was a great success.

Andrew McKay, manager of Active Schools, said: “We are trying to increase the activity levels of all kids, and are targeting girls and young women in particular.”
