The Luss Rescue Boat St John has received another boost from St John Scotland.

A cheque for £700 was presented to the crew by the organisation’s Dunbartonshire chairman Colonel John Kelly at the Loch Lomondside boathouse this week.

It was accepted by Coxswain Ronnie Britton and deputy coxswain Clinton Salter.

This latest donation brought the total given to the rescue boat by the county branch to some £7,000 in recent years.

Ronnie told the Reporter: “The Loch Lomond Rescue Boat team provide 24/7, 365-day cover of rescue services to Loch Lomond and surrounding shores.

“The continued support from the Order of St John nationally and locally helps to keep this vital service in operation, and the crew pass on their thanks for this latest donation.”

Other beneficiaries receiving cheques for £700 from the 2017-18 fundraising by St John Scotland Dunbartonshire are the St Margaret of Scotland Hospice at Clydebank, the Arrochar Mountain Rescue Team, and the Vale of Leven Hospital’s Acorn Centre one stop shop for children with multiple health issues.

St John Scotland supports medical and rescue charities, and is closely associated with mountain rescue, palliative care, patient transport, and the provision of defibrillators and CPR training.
