Plans have been revealed for new homes for the over 60s in Alexandria.

West Dunbartonshire Council plans to build six blocks, with 22 housing units, on a housing development site at Creveul Court.

Plans are for one four-storey block with 16 one and two-bedroom flats; a second block with five one-bedroom bungalows and a third with one, three-bedroom wheelchair accessible bungalow.

There will be a communal garden in the courtyard of the development.

Documents submitted to the planning department state: "The site is to be redeveloped for residential use, although at the present time, the development proposals have not been finalised."

They added that remedial measures would be needed on the land as elevated levels of chemicals with potential risks to human health had been found during soil analysis.

Details of the Creveul Court application follows news in last week's Reporter that plans had been submitted for 58 affordable homes to be built on the site of a former primary school in Haldane, Balloch.

West Dunbartonshire Council wants to build on the site, at Miller Road, as part of its strategic housing plan.

The council is encouraging the provision of more accessible housing and ones which are suitable for wheelchair users.
