Walkers are urged to don their hiking boots and join the local ramblers group on one of their two walks this weekend.

On Saturday, May 4, the group will be catching a bus from Callander to Doune before walking past Doune Castle and alongside the River Teith through woodland to the ruined St Aedh's Church.

They will then walk alongside a tributary to the River Teith, before crossing Drumvaich Muir and joining a disused railway line which will be followed to Callander and the end of the walk.

There are good tracks throughout with one section of minor road on the walk which will cover 17km and ascend 250m to a height of 120m.

For this walk the Ramblers will meet at Helensburgh Swimming Pool car park to depart at 9.15 am.

On Sunday, May 5, however, the walk will take place at Tinto and Scaut Hill.

A singularly prominent hill, Tinto offers fine views over the Clyde Valley, and, on a clear day, northwards into the Trossachs and south as far as the borders.

The terrain is a broad track to rocky summit, then grassy track and road for the return.

Distance covered is 11km, while ascending 620m to a height of 711m.

The group will meet at Helensburgh Swimming Pool car park to depart at 9.30 am.
