A group of young players had a smashing time last week as they attended the primary four Active Schools qualifiers at Kirktonhill Tennis Club.

Pupils from St Michael’s, Knoxland, Braehead, St Peter’s, Aitkenbar, St Patrick’s, and St Kessog’s took part in one qualifier in the morning before pupils from Renton, Gartocharn, Christie Park, Bonhill and Levenvale primaries took part in a second qualifier in the afternoon.

In each qualifier all of the schools played each other once in a round robin format and the top two schools from each will now go on to take part in the tennis final at Kirktonhill on Wednesday, May 8 from 6-8pm.

St Michael’s, Knoxland, Renton and Gartocharn primaries will battle it out with the top three schools from Clydebank (St Mary’s Duntocher, Whitecrook and Goldenhill) to determine who will be crowned West Dunbartonshire tennis champions 2019.

Last year’s winners of the Active Schools tennis festival were St Mary’s from Duntocher.
