The fourth annual Growing West Dunbartonshire Spring Event was held at Dumbarton Academy recently.
Thirty-two groups attended the event to highlight and discuss their efforts to transform their community through food growing and gardening activities.
Along with the various stalls, several individuals also received certificates to recognise their hard work including Cameron Russell (Dumbarton Academy pupil and the Royal Horticultural Society’s Young Gardener of the Year P7-S2), Martin Love (head gardener at Bellsmyre Community Gardens) and Joanne Harvey (the teacher who runs Go Wild at Dumbarton Academy).
Dumbarton Academy, Dalmonach ELCC, Auchnacraig ELCC and Ladyton ELCC received the Learn and Grow Centre of Excellence Award.
The event was organised by West Dunbartonshire Greenspace, Bellsmyre Community Gardens, the Leamy Foundation, Lomond Allotments, Action Old Kilpatrick and West Bridgend Community Garden.

Kevin Mason, project manager for the Leamy Foundation, said: "It was amazing, seeing the number of groups there and seeing schools and nurseries and their enthusiasm for what they have done and for meeting up with each other to make contacts.
"For example Dalmonach ELCC were unaware up until the event that Lomond Allotments were just down road from them and now they are organising a visit, which is absolutely tremendous."
In addition, the following organisations were in attendance: Napierhall playgroup, Knoxland Primary, Levenvale Primary, Gavinburn Primary, Christie Park Primary School, Learn and Grow in West Dunbartonshire Schools, St Mungo's growing space Alexandria, Faifley Community Allotment, Plastic Free WD, Bonhill Community Garden, Blue Triangle Alexandria/Bonhill, CHAS Balloch, Haldane Youth Services, Renton Community Integration Project, Scott Avenue, Friends of Dumbarton Foreshore, Dunbritton Housing Association Plot to Pot Project and Alzheimer Scotland.
