A CIVIC reception to honour the work undertaken by the STUC LGTB+ workers’ committee was held last week.
Provost William Hendrie honoured the group of representatives at the event held as they met for their 2019 conference at the Golden Jubilee Hotel in Clydebank on Saturday May 25.
The aim of the annual conference, now in its 8th year, is to elect a new committee as well as discuss ongoing obstacles faced by members of the LGBT+ community in the workplace.
The meeting ensures that LGBT+ issues are included in the wider work of the STUC, and topics over the course of the two days included pay gaps, sexual harassment and dementia care.
Provost Hendrie addressed the delegates ahead of a civic reception, and thanked them for their efforts in creating a fairer and more equal workplace in Scotland.
Speaking after the event, he said: “I was delighted to host a civic reception during the STUC LGBT+ Workers’ Conference this year.
“The organisation has strived to improve opportunities, as well as recognise and celebrate diversity and equality.
“The reception was a token of West Dunbartonshire’s thanks for the work they have undertaken to ensure an equal workplace in Scotland.
“They should be very proud of what they have achieved so far.”
