We are now into our summer months and although the temperatures are quite acceptable, perhaps the rain isn’t - although we are without doubt luckier than other parts of the country down south.

Not so lucky with the roadworks in Dumbarton East I’m afraid. No-one could fail to be aware of the upset this has caused.

I understand the work will now be extended to July 24 to incorporate some BT works, and I suppose it’s as well to get everything done rather than have more roads closed in future but that’s no consolation to some of the residents and drivers.

The signage initially, this has been amended, made it difficult for drivers to appreciate that although Glasgow Road was closed at Castlegreen Street, drivers could not drive up Greenhead Road and on the first day of the closure, literally ‘hundreds’ of cars drove along to the dead end at Glasgow Road.

Not our council’s finest forward planning effort, but it has improved.

On a more positive note, Glencairn House has been open to allow the public last week to view the work which has been carried out inside.

The proposed plans would transform the building into a state of the art library and museum in the centre of the town.

Glencairn House has gone through many phases over the years with a number of different organisations using the premises, but it was in decline and required a tremendous amount of work to make it viable for the current plans.

All looking good for the High Street.

The housing development along the quay would appear to be making good progress and when it is complete, the volume of traffic parked on both sides of the road on Castle Street should ease considerably ........ I only said ‘should’!

Enjoy your summer. Pick a good day to visit Levengrove Park and admire the work which has brought it back to life and made it a very pleasant park to visit.

I’m following the politics to see who the next Prime Minister will be - now, who is this Boris somebody!!??
