CAMPAIGNERS looking to save the landscape Loch Lomond are set to hold a public meeting.

Hundreds are expected at the meeting held by Save Loch Lomond, which is due to take place on Monday at Alexandria Parish Church.

The meeting will be the first of its kind in a year, following a similar gathering held by Balloch and Haldane Community Council - which attracted around 200 people.

The group believes the Flamingo Land development - which would see a 60 room hotel, 131 self-catering lodges and a water park among other features - would be detrimental to the local environment.

Alannah Maurer, a member of Save Loch Lomond, told the Lennox Herald: "The last public meeting was held by Balloch and Haldane Community Council last June and as a year has elapsed ad the plans have been amended we felt that the public should have their voice heard."

Thousands of people have voiced opposition to the plans, following a campaign spearheaded by Green MSP Ross Greer, who has garnered 55,000 signatures on a petition to stop the construction.

Councillors from West Dunbartonshire, along with Mr Greer and fellow MSP for Dumbarton Jackie Baillie will also be in attendance at the meeting.

The meeting is due to start at 7pm, and is free to attend.
