A BUSY Dumbarton road is set to be closed for more than a month.

West Dunbartonshire Council has confirmed Stirling Road will be closed from Sunday, August 11 until Sunday, September 22.

The street will be shut between the Lionsgate roundabout, near the headquarters of Chivas Brothers and the Strathleven Drive roundabout, to allow for Scottish Power to conduct work.

As well as Stirling Road, the northbound exit of the Vale of Leven Industrial Estate will also be shut completely between the estate and Stirling Road.

Work on the stretch is not expected to be continuous, with the council stating restrictions will only be imposed "when required".

It is also expected that the work will be complete four weeks from the start of the order.

Other works will also be carried out in surrounding areas, by Scottish Power as well as other agencies as part of different projects.

The reason for the work has not been released by Scottish Power or WDC.

Diversions have been put in place to avoid the area for the duration of the works.

Drivers are asked to take the Alexandria bypass on the A82 onto the A811, before making their way onto the A813, which will become Stirling Road.
