A DUMBARTON man has been banned from driving for being twice the drink limit.
William Reid, of Crosslet Road, pleaded guilty at Dumbarton Sheriff Court last week to driving in the same street with 45mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath.
The court was told the 55-year-old was stopped by a routine check around 10pm on September 16. Police detected a strong smell of alcohol, said depute fiscal Sean Maher.
Sheriff Maxwell Hendry noted there had been a similar offence previously, though more than 16 years earlier.
Defence agent Kenny McGowan said his client had a good employment history but was “recently made unemployed, subject to some dispute, from the local council”.
He had thought he had consumed “quite a modest level of alcohol”.
Sheriff Hendry banned Reid from driving for two years - but he could reduce that by six months if he undertook a drink driving rehabilitation course.
He was fined £200.
