Join us as we take a trip down memory lane to reminisce about what was happening in Dumbarton and the Vale around 15 years ago.

To do so, we delved into the Reporter's archives to pick out some of the stories from over a decade ago.

1. Sponsored walk around Argyll Park for pupils in the Vale

The rain could not dampen the enthusiasm of the primary six and seven pupils of Levenvale Primary School on a sponsored walk round Argyll Park. The pupils also organised a mini Olympics featuring an opening ceremony with songs and dancing from the UK, USA, New Zealand, Greece, China, Austria and South Africa. The kids raised a total of £700 for SENSE Scotland.

2. School trip to the farm to visit the new furry friends

Two new furry arrivals were born into the world at Knowetop Community Farm. Schoolchildren were flocking to the farm during their spring break to see two pigmy goat kids.

3. Mask-making fun for arty youngsters in Bonhill

Artistic youngsters were making the most of their break from school by taking part in mask-making session. Ladyton Library in Bonhill held the afternoon event as part of their Easter break activities. Everyone involved had a fun time making colourful masks and other arts and crafts.

4. Alexandria school pupils share delight after awarded eco Green Flag

Primary school pupils unveiled their new eco-school’s green flag award after carrying out sterling work to improve the environment. The pupils from St Mary’s Primary in Alexandria unveiled the flag awarded to them by Eco Schools Scotland.

5. Children test their arty skills with their Easter bug straws

There was something creepy crawlie going on at Ladyton Library. Children taking part in the council’s Easter Library events programme had the chance to put their skills to the test to create bug straws. Lots of colourful creations were on display when kids got together for the afternoon activity in Bonhill.

6. Pupils learn about importance of oral health with a visit by Gladigator

Pupils at Gavinburn Primary were visited by the Gladigator, an alligator who promotes better physical and oral health. After a talk on how to improve their dental hygiene, the kids tackled an inflatable assault course designed to give them a sport session.
