1. Holiday led to a career in whisky

When Jacqui Farquahar visited Dumbarton on holiday nearly 50 years ago in 2013, she never thought the trip would change her life. The then 60-year-old had celebrated 45 years of working for Chivas Brothers’ — one of the world’s leading spirit manufacturers — based in the town. She was the company's longest-serving female employee.

2. Dedicated volunteers recognised for their work in community

Volunteers at Victim Support West Dunbartonshire were honoured at an awards dinner in the Dumbuck Hotel in Dumbarton.

3. Pupils show off their school projects at exhibition

Staff at Our Lady and St Patrick’s High School enjoyed an exhibition created by some of the school’s pupils. The pupils, who were members of the Bookworms library project club, created a display of the research they have completed during the last term on various topics which included Super Mario and Avengers.

4. Record-breaking cyclist inspired residents at talk in Luss

World record-breaking cyclist and adventurer Mark Beaumont spoke at a fund-raising evening in Luss — halfway through one of the biggest challenges of his life at the time.

5. Parishioners braved cold weather to raise money for hospice

Overtoun House at Milton, Dumbarton, was the uppermost point of a sponsored walk by parishioners of St Patrick’s Church, Dumbarton, who took to the Old Kilpatrick Hills to raise money for the St Margaret of Scotland Hospice in Clydebank.
