We're taking a look back at what was happening in Dumbarton and the Vale of Leven this time 10 years ago.

We delved into the Reporter's archives from Tuesday, June 18, 2013, to find and share some photos from that week's edition of the paper.

Do you recognise anyone or remember these stories?

1. The much-coveted Dragon Boat Challenge title was up for grabs as teams in fancy dress took to Loch Lomond. People with cerebral palsy benefitted from the annual event, which has previously seen £40,000 raised.

2. Wind energy was on the agenda for Vale of Leven Academy pupils during a special event. The academy was selected as the pilot school to work with Glasgow Science Centre Education Outreach staff and engineering PhD students from the Centre for Doctoral Training at the University of Strathclyde.

3. A new play park for the Balloch area was the talk of the town as it was completed. The project at the Moss O’Balloch by the West Dunbartonshire Environment Trust was opened Provost Douglas McAllister.

Pupils from the three local primary schools, Haldane, St Kessog’s and Jamestown attended to try out the new adventure play area.

4. Nine boys of the 1st Vale of Leven Boy’s Brigade Company took on a weekend of hiking over two days. They joined others from units across the area and were split into teams of three for the competitive hike of 30 miles over two days.

5. Nursery pupils were given one last look at Braehead Primary School before they start a new chapter as pupils there in August. They enjoyed a mini-party with games, a ball pit and tasty treats.

6. The sun had his hat on as Cardross Primary School held its Highland Games gala day for pupils, staff and the community. Villagers had the chance to see the school converted into a fun house for the day with a climbing wall, face painting, a fun fair, and sumo rugby.
