1. Balloch super slimmer has a new lease of life

Super slimmer Lucy Rintoul from Balloch said being refused life insurance was the trigger to her dropping a staggering eight dress sizes. She was a size 26 and weighed 21 stone when she was knocked back for cover because of her weight.

2. Maids clock up record on the loch

A team of women plunged into freezing waters to become the first relay team to swim the length of Loch Lomond without wet suits.

The group, nicknamed The Maids of the Loch, trained for nine months to take on the 24-mile challenge, completing it in just over 14 hours.

3. Volunteers rallied together to clean Bellsmyre's streets

Volunteers rallied around to tidy up the streets in Bellsmyre. Organised by Bellsmyre Development Trust, the community litter pick formed part of a jam-packed summer timetable.

4. Headteacher expressed delight over pupils' exam results

Dumbarton Academy’s head teacher Jacqui Lynam expressed her delight and said overall the exam results have been very good. 

5. Loch Lomond Shores was a star attraction

Loch Lomond Shores had officially become a five-star destination.

VisitScotland awarded the site its highest accolade in the tourist shop category and was presented with the award to the loch-side complex in Balloch after several undercover visits by inspectors.

6. Mission to rescue historic World War Two boat

The Skylark IX Recovery Trust held its first open day where it invited volunteers to come along and kick-start the first phase of the ship’s restoration.
