THE Dunbartonshire Chamber of Commerce has announced a new CEO.

Damon Scott was officially introduced as the new Chief Executive at the latest chamber event to 30 guests on Loch Lomond’s historic steamship, the Maid of the Loch.

Part of the team that launched Loch Lomond Shores visitor destination, Damon has a history with the area. He then went on to set up his own marketing business - Clydebank-based Nonconform Limited – which he will continue to run alongside working for the chamber.

He also currently sits on the board of The Lennox Partnership and has previously worked for Renfrewshire Chamber of Commerce.

Damon told the Reporter: “This is an exciting opportunity for me to help support business in the area. The chamber and our partners can offer some really important benefits to the whole range of businesses - from start-ups that need basic help on setting-up and launching to multi-million pound companies that need help to grow.

“We already have a strong following on Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook so we’ll certainly be looking to build on the modern ways of communicating our events and other activities to a wider audience.”

Chamber President Stewart Rennie welcomed Damon at the Maid of the Loch event – which told the story of the history of the Maid and gave an insight to the £5.5m lottery-backed plans to restore it. He said: “We are delighted to announce Damon as our new CEO. He will help take the chamber through its next phase of development with some exciting new ideas to grow the chamber including; development of the events programme, increased engagement with members and other businesses and collaborative work with our partners.”

Damon will host his first official event in the post this month. Joining forces with the Federation of Small Business, he has organised a free event to benefit businesses in Dunbartonshire.

The event will cover cyber security with a presentation from two 'ethical hackers.' And Healthy Working Lives talk about health issues in the workplace.

Damon said: “I am really looking forward to my first event in post. Businesses will be able to take a lot away including best practice, increased security and productivity.”

The event will take place at Milngavie Enterprise Centre on Thursday, September 22 between 1pm-3pm and refreshments will be provided. To book a place e-mail admin@dunbartonshirechamber
