A NEW Integrated Cardiac Unit was opened at the Vale of Leven hospital, offering a 'one stop' service to patients.
The unit was opened by Dumbarton MSP Jackie Baillie.
Allan Durward, acting chairman of Argyll and Clyde Acute Trust, said: “The unit is an important new service for patients.
“It brings together inpatient and outpatient services for cardiology patients, providing continuity of care for patients and rapid access for GPs.”
A consultant, a rehabilitation sister and a dietician now form a clinic for patients who have suffered a heart attack.
Ms Baillie said: “It is always good news when a development like this allows for modern, integrated care to be provided for patients.
“This brings the staff of two departments together and makes the patient’s journey much better.
