Barnardo's Scotland stores across Dunbartonshire are launching an unseasonal stock appeal following good business across the shops in the area.

The charity, which has a store in Alexandria, says it is particularly short on children's toys and women's clothes, including dresses and tops.

William Farrell, area business manager for Barnardo’s Scotland’s shops in Dunbartonshire said: Business has been so good in the charity shop we really are running low on stock. I’m certainly not complaining but we do like to keep our rails full and offer a good selection of clothes and toys to our customers and more stock is urgently needed.

“We don’t normally appeal for donations in May but managers in a few areas are reporting that they are running a bit low on stock, unusual this early into the season, so we we’re putting out an appeal to the general public to bring their donations to our stores when they are clearing their wardrobes and drawers.”

To make it easier for people to take part in the appeal, the charity are running a collection service for donors in and around the neighbouring Milngavie and Kirkintilloch stores, with donors giving five or more bags being asked to leave their donation and contact details, with the shop then looking to collect the donation when possible.

William continued: “We know people have busy lives; we’re looking at ways to making donating to our stores easier. Between now and 23rd June we are trialling a collection service for anyone donating five or more black bags or equivalent.”
