A HUGE withdrawal of money was made at the Dumbarton branch of a building society recently - for a worthy cause.

A bumper cheque for £5,285.13 was issued by staff from the Nationwide Building Society to Macmillan Cancer Relief to benefit people in the area.

Employees of the High Street branch raised the money from fun events over the last two years towards west of Scotland appeals.

Receiving the giant cheque was Macmillan’s Evelyn Nicoll, fund raising manager, and Colin Graham.

It was presented by Geraldine Clark, Nationwide Branch Manager, who told the Macmillan officials: “I am really pleased to be able to hand over this cheque to Macmillan Cancer Relief.

“We’ve had a great deal of fun raising the money over the last two years but employees also put in a lot of time and hard work, so I’m delighted to see the money go to such a good

cause.

“I’d also like to thank the family, friends and members who have supported our fund raising initiatives over the last year.

“It’s good to know,” she added, “that money is going towards local appeals which will directly benefit people living here in Dumbarton.”
