WHEN police turned up at the door of a father of four, he pointed them to where his drugs supply was - worth more than £14,000.

Officers went to the property in Taylor Street in Renton last October with a drugs warrant and found Scott McNaught, 29, his partner and one of his children sleeping upstairs.

The search began around 6.15pm on October 18 and as officers asked about the upper level, McNaught said, "There's nothing up there - it's in that bag under the stairs".

Fiscal depute Sarah Healing told Dumbarton Sheriff Court last week, "He said, 'I will show you where it is'".

The black Converse holdall had a substantial stash of cannabis and cannabis resin. One bag had 787.47g of cannabis, while others had smaller amounts. A polka dot bag had another 236.31g and there was an Aldi bag with a 100g block of cannabis resin. Another 15, 100g blocks of the resin were also found.

In the kitchen, a tin contained more resin and cannabis and in a drawer in the kitchen, there was an envelope with names and numbers and a notepad with names and numbers.

The police STOP unit (Statement of Opinion) confirmed the lists had all the hallmarks of a tick list for dealing.

There were two iPhones found with drug dealing activity on both and McNaught admitted he was responsible for the messages. Officers also found £120 in mixed notes in a tin.

When officers later interviewed McNaught, he said his DNA or fingerprints might be found on some of the items in the holdall.

The total cannabis haul was just short of 1.1kg worth a maximum street value of £10,967. There was 1,109.27g of cannabis resin worth £4,500 at most on the streets.

McNaught pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of both cannabis and cannabis resin when he appeared at court last Wednesday.

Sheriff Maxwell Hendry said he needed further reports on McNaught, who has previous convictions but has not served jail time before.

Adjourning the case until August 10, the sheriff said: "This is a substantial quantity of drugs."
