YOUNG athletes flocked to Dumbarton Academy last week for a summer coaching event.
More than 40 girls and boys between eight and 12 took part in the Norwich Union Star: track over three days and took to their task with enthusiasm.
The scheme, sponsored by the giant insurance company, is designed to give children their first taste of athletics and recognise achievements with awards.
It was started in 1992 when 8,000 children took part in 78 venues and has now grown to 25,000 participating in more than 500 venues, including Dumbarton on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday last week.
