SINGING sensations ScotSoul are preparing for the biggest gig of their lives this weekend.

For the West Dunbartonshire-based quintet are counting down the hours until Saturday night's live final of 'Pitch Battle' on BBC 1.

And there is plenty riding on the outcome of this weekend's grand final, which is expected to have a TV audience of millions.

The winners will walk away with a cool £50,000- and there's every chance their singing careers will soar to new heights too.

Earlier this month the band- who boast members from Dumbarton, Alexandria, Bonhill and Jamestown, were centre of attention as the BBC cameras rolled into Alexandria to film a segment for the hit show, which starts at 7pm on Saturday.

And last month the five members – Des McFarlane, Louise McFarlane, Natalie James, James Smart, and Shirley McAlpine – struck a chord with legendary singer and show judge Chaka Khan during the show’s semi-final.

They brought songstress Khan to her feet when they sang a rendition of her own smash-hit song Ain’t Nobody.

ScotSoul were up against barbershop quartet group Fly Boys, who took it in turns to perform Chaka’s iconic hits – with a place in the final up for grabs.

And, after dazzling the judging panel and millions of TV viewers across the UK, the group made it through to the live final – where they’ll get another chance to song alongside the American music icon.

ScotSoul will be up against five other acts as they battle it out to become Pitch Battle champions.

Speaking about reaching the grand final mum of three Shirley, 44, who owns En Point Dancewear, in Alexandria Main Street, told the Reporter: “The reaction has been fantastic and the support from local people has been incredible.

“It does still feel a bit surreal and we’ve yet to take it all in but we are already preparing for the final – we’re rehearsing every night. Hopefully it will be worth it and we’ll see what happens on the day.”

Fellow band member James, 44, from Alexandria said: “We get to sing with Chaka Khan again in the final, so it already feels like we’ve won.

“Now we are in the final and the reaction to it has been overwhelming.

“We’ve been given support and backing throughout the UK and it’s all very much appreciated.”

All the members of Scot Soul were solo performers in our own right for many years but they decided to join forces earlier this year and form a brand new vocal harmony group.

Tune in from 7pm on Saturday to see ScotSoul in action and don't forget to vote.
