DETECTIVES are this evening appealing for a female witness to come forward to assist with their enquiries into an alleged incident which took place on board a train on Sunday, July 30.

The incident involving a teenage girl and a man happened around 10pm on the Larkhall to Balloch Train, between Dumbarton East and Dumbarton Central.

A 34 year old man has been arrested and is presently detained in police custody in connection with the incident.

The witness is described as being in her 40s, with blonde hair tied back and she was wearing a purple top.

Detective Inspector Scott Hamilton, from Clydebank CID, said: “We understand that the woman was in the same carriage at the time the incident took place and spoke to the young girl involved to ask if she was ok.

“It is very important that we speak to this woman as she may have vital information to assist with this investigation.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact officers at Clydebank CID via 101 and quote incident number 4642 of Sunday 30th July 2017.”
