AN Alexandria man shouted abuse at police after regaining consciousness from an epileptic seizure, a court has heard.

Police were called to a property in Northfield Road around 5pm on September 5 with a report of a potential drugs overdose.

Paramedics were already on the scene treating Andrew Laing and confirmed he didn't need to go to hospital.

Officers found a tiny amount of heroin - 0.01g - and Laing insisted police give the drugs back, fiscal depute Kevin Doherty told Dumbarton Sheriff Court last week.

Laing, 51, told police to get out of his house and demanded money from them "for some reason".

He pleaded guilty to shouting, swearing and being aggressive, and to possession of diamorphine.

But defence solicitor Douglas Thomson said the story was quite different.

His client said it was an "epileptic fit" and he remembered little of what happened.

Laing's father had phoned for an ambulance and it was him Laing was demanding money off of, explained Mr Thomson.

Sheriff Maxwell Hendry told Laing: "I trust a lesson has been learned and there will not be a repetition."

Laing was fined £160 for his behaviour and admonished for the 0.01g of heroin.
