A RENTON man has pleaded guilty to stealing alcohol and groceries from Asda in Dumbarton last month.

David McCaa, of Main Street, admitted at Dumbarton Sheriff Court last week that he took the items from the St James Retail Park supermarket on October 23.

The 42-year-old had been put on a community payback order for a similar offence back in June but has only had two meetings with social workers in that time.

Sheriff Simon Pender remarked: "I wonder what the point is in making these orders when they don't get done."

He deferred sentence until November 22 for reports and McCaa will remain in custody until then.
