AN Alexandria man faces a jail sentence after admitting smashing a car with a metal pole.

David Nicholson, 45, of Simpson Quadrant, wilfully damaged a car in his street on October 26, this year by repeatedly striking a car with a metal pole, Dumbarton Sheriff Court heard on Friday.

He also admitted acting in a threatening or abusive manner likely to cause a reasonable person to suffer fear and alarm. It happened within a police car travelling between Simpson Quadrant and Clydebank Police Office.

Prosecutor Craig Wainwright told the court how Nicholson was shouting and swearing and making threats of violence and acting in an aggressive manner.

Sheriff Simon Pender deferred sentence until December 13 for background reports previously called for. Bail was continued.
