Ten-month-old Emma Elizabeth Stevenson from Alexandria has been awarded a cheque for £300 after winning the Reporter’s 2017 Bonnie Babies competition.

Mum Laura Stevenson read about the competition on Facebook and after seeing an advert in the paper decided to enter her daughter straight away.

The mum said: “We have quite a big family, so I knew they would vote for her.

“I’m ecstatic about it and very happy. It was a surprise. Her dad was just as excited as me. We are very happy, over the moon.

“I just thought to put it in to see just because she is such a happy and good-looking baby.”

Laura, 36, said when the winning call came to reveal Emma had won, the tot was coincidentally cheering in the background.

Laura said she believes Emma’s winning smile is one of her best assets.

She added: “She has a lovely smile and everyone says it too. She’s a brilliant baby, really happy and content.

“She took her first couple of steps the other day, which we were shocked, but happy about.

“She is already saying a few words like mummy and daddy and who’s that and what’s that. She is going to be a real chatterbox, I can tell.”

Emma, received a £300 cash prize, which Laura said she and Emma’s dad Adrien Stevenson would likely be saving for their daughter’s future.
