THE heartbroken family of missing Haldane man Mark Connolly have made a direct plea for him to get in touch.

Mark’s big sister Helen made an emotional plea for the 48-year-old to return.

She said: “Mark, if you see this, please contact us even if it’s just to let us know you’re okay.

“Whatever has happened, it can be worked out.”

Helen’s niece Carla Wallace told the Reporter her mother and Mark’s wife have been desperately searching for the dad-of-two.

He was last seen on Friday, February 9, at Jamestown garage around 3pm before making a phone call to his wife 30 minutes later. He has not been seen since.

Carla, from Alexandria, said: “He would always be in touch with his wife. They would speak everyday as they’ve got two young children so they communicate regularly.

“This is unusual it’s not normal behaviour and we just want him home.”

Mark was reported missing on Tuesday, February 13, by a family member.

A potential sighting of him around 4pm on Sunday, February 11, within the Haldane (Inler) Park was deemed non-reliable by police, taking the family back to square one.

Carla added: “My mum is really, really struggling – it’s her little brother.

“The whole family, everyone, is just so concerned. We’re thinking about his kids as well.

“He’s obviously out there somewhere and we need to know where.”

The search for Mark has been stepped up with several patrols being put out in the area as well as help from family and friends but so far, there have no developments.

Carla explained: “We have been going about the area, we’ve been driving about and walking around trying to see if we can see anything but so far nothing.

“We don’t even know what doors he would go to or where he could’ve went.”

The former steelworker, who is originally from Brucehill, is described as around 5ft 10, slim build however possibly very slim at present, cropped very short dark hair and blue eyes.

When last seen he was believed to be wearing blue jeans, blue training shoes and a mustard coloured jacket.

Police warned he has lost a significant amount of weight in the last few weeks so may appear thinner than usual to those who know him.

Mark is a keen fisher but did not have a trip planned that weekend and he was also known to frequent the Helensburgh area.

Sergeant Andrew Barron at Dumbarton Police Station said: “Mr Connolly is well known within the local community and is usually in regular contact with family members.

“The fact that no-one has heard from him for several days now causes them great concern and they urge him to contact them to let them know he is safe and well.

“Anyone who has seen him since Sunday, February 11 or anyone who knows of his present whereabouts is asked to contact police at Dumbarton via 101 quoting incident number 3528 of February 13.”
