A community gardening group is giving people the chance to get together to grow fruit and vegetables.

Better Views – Social Gardening which meets at St Mungo’s Community Hall in Queen Street, Alexandria every Monday, is supported by the Leamy Foundation and self-managed by the St Mungo’s Growing Space Group.

The group provides the opportunity to spend a couple of hours doing some sowing and growing activity in the beautiful grounds of St Mungo’s Episcopal Church. Kevin Mason, project development manager at the Leamy Foundation, said: “You do not need to be green fingered if you want to come and have a cup of tea we would be delighted to see you.

“People looking to get out and get healthy and to learn how to grow fruit and vegetables in their community are more than welcome. ”

The group is well attended and is known for its friendly, relaxed and inclusive atmosphere.

The group meets in all weathers and if it is particularly bad, will head inside to the community hall for tea, coffee and biscuits.

The sessions are free and the next session takes place on March 19 from 10am to 1pm.
