AN Alexandria woman, who was caught in possession of heroin within her home after a police drugs raid, has been fined £100 at Dumbarton Sheriff Court.

Claire Gilmour, 37, formerly of Tudhope Crescent, was snared with a “tenner wrap” of the deadly drug on March 3, 2017.

She was on bail at the time, an order imposed on her at Dumbarton Sheriff Court on August 25, 2016. She pleaded guilty at the town’s court this week.

Prosecutor Emma Thomson said: “Police obtained a search warrant from Dumbarton Sheriff Court. At 2.10pm they forced entry to her home.

"A short time later she returned and was shown the warrant. A small tenner bag wrap was found in the living room. It was later tested and found to be heroin.”

Lawyer Tom Brown told the court that she has since moved to Brunswick House, Mountblow, Clydebank.

“She has come on leaps and bounds,” said Mr Brown.” She is off of drugs now and is on a Methadone programme.”

Sheriff John Hamilton said: “I am glad to hear that you have taken the appropriate steps to remain drug free.”

Gilmour was told by the sheriff that he reduced the fine from £150 because of her early plea.
