Moving tributes have been paid to a 21-year-old Balloch man who died in hospital following a road accident.

Chris Lister was airlifted to South Glasgow University Hospital following after his car and a lorry crashed on on the A811 near Alexandria on Thursday, June 25.

He did not recover from the serious injuries he sustained and died three days later. Two men, aged 53 and 54, who were in the lorry, were uninjured after the 7.50am crash.

A Police Scotland spokesman said ‘inquiries are continuing’ into the incident and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.

The former pupil of Our Lady and St Patrick’s High School in Dumbarton leaves behind his dad John, mum Jacqueline, and brothers Jamie and Matthew.

Loch Lomond Rugby Club paid tribute to Chris, who had played for the club for since he was a youngster.

A moving message since posted on the club’s Facebook page on Sunday, June 28, said: “Today we lost one of our own. Chris Lister played mini, junior and senior rugby for our club. No matter what I write today my words will never be enough to describe him and what he meant to Jacqueline, John, Jamie, Matthew, his family friends, and our club.” Friends, teammates, and work colleagues took to social media to share their memories of Chris, who worked at Allied Vehicles in the town after studying mechanics at Glasgow Clyde College.

Pat Gordon tweeted ‘Chris Lister you will always be in my heart’, and Rachel Gillies wrote ‘You really never know what’s around the corner, rest in peace Chris Lister’.

Chris Mcgowan said: “RIP Chris Lister, thoughts are with your friends and family.

A genuine nice guy didn’t know anyone who had a bad word to say about you.” Eoghan Warner wrote: “Sad news about Chris Lister. A really nice guy, with a great personality who was always having a laugh. He will be missed.” Megan Mitchell posted: “Can’t believe this is happening, nothing feels real any more but you know what they say ‘We’re all flowers in gods garden and he picks the most beautiful flowers but sometimes those flowers are our loved ones’ Chris Lister you will always be a genuine friend with the heart of gold which cannot be replaced.” Ryan McFarlane wrote: “One of the nicest guys always having a laugh sleep tight bud! Thoughts are with the family.” Chris’s family did not wish to speak.
