TWO primary schools and a youth project in the Vale have been boosted by lottery funding totalling more than £13,000.
Levenvale Primary received £2,646 which it will use to fund a programme of extracurricular sporting and physical activities for its pupils.
Jamestown Primary was awarded £2,636 which will also be used for extracurricular sporting activities. The grant will enable the school to hire coaches. The grants come from the Awards for All programme – supported by Creative Scotland, sportscotland and the Big Lottery Fund.
Tullochan was awarded £8,400. The youth organisation caters for young people aged 11 to 19 years old and offer a range of indoor and outdoor activities and excursions.
Jackie Baillie MSP has written to all three groups congratulating them on their success.
She said: “This extra funding will encourage more children to get involved in sport by providing opportunities to try out new activities.
“I would encourage local groups to keep on applying and I will do whatever I can to support their application.”
