OVER 30,000 visitors flock to Loch Lomond Shores at the weekend for the annual Loch Lomond Food and Drink Festival.

The two-day event saw an array of food and drink suppliers, a packed line up of music, entertainment, cookery demos and activities for people of all ages.

There was something for everyone at the event with cheese, meats, seafood, locally-brewed ales, Scottish spirits, home baking and much more.

McIntosh of Strathmore sponsored the event and their haggis-eating competition and mascot, Mr Macaroni, proved to be popular festival additions.

Other popular events were Animal Man’s Mini Zoo, wild food and drink walks with one of Scotland’s most experienced foragers, Monica Wilde and a variety of live music including local singer songwriters Clann An Drumma.

Organiser Kat Kennedy, was delighted with the turnout at the event. She said: “The number of visitors who joined us this weekend and soaked up the festival atmosphere was brilliant.

“We not only love providing a great free event for everyone to enjoy but we are also avid supports of small food and drink producers and this event offers them the chance to showcase their products to a huge audience in one of Scotland’s most iconic locations.”

The festival was part of the Yar of Innovation, Architecture and Design, which aims to shine a spotlight on Scotland’s achievements in the fields of innovation, architecture and design through a wide range of activities.

The festival celebrated the innovation in cooking techniques and embraced digital technology with many of the activities being filmed and streamed live on social media.

Clare Gemmell, General Manager at Loch Lomond Shores said: “This has been a fantastic event and having over 30,000 visit our award-winning attraction over the weekend is just tremendous. Customer comments have been very positive and it has been great to see so many people enjoying everything that Loch Lomond Shores has to offer.’’
