A 35 year-old man has been released from hospital after falling into the River Leven on Friday afternoon.
It's understood that the man fell into the River Leven near Susannah Street around 3.10pm, prompting a major response from the emergency services.
Eyewitnesses reported a large presence of emergency vehicles around the Bonhill Bridge towpath, which links the area to Balloch.
A spokesman for Police Scotland said: "At 15.10hrs Police and emergency services responded to reports of a 35 year-old man having fallen into the River Leven, close to Susannah Street, Dumbarton.
"He was rescued and taken by ambulance to the Royal Alexandra Hospital."
It's understood that an air ambulance was nearby the incident but it was not required.
An update from Police revealed that the man was detained overnight for observation and released the following day.
