A FREE event will take place at Loch Lomond Shores to encourage visitors to get active and using their bikes.

The Big Bike Revival will take place at the visitor attraction on Tuesday, October 18.

Supported by independent charity, Cycling UK, the event aims to encourage people to get using bikes for everyday things – popping to the shops, commuting, getting out as a couple, family or even setting up a cycling group.

Free bike health checks from The Bike Stations’ gurus, Dr Bike, will be available for anyone whose bike is in need of some TLC.

Loch Lomond Shores’ resident outdoor activity specialists, Can You Experience, will also be part of the event, with free instructor-led cycle rides taking in some of the cycle paths in the area.

Can You Experience’s tandem and quadricycles will be free to hop on have a go on the day.

Cycling Scotland’s mobile bike trail will be part of the event, with rumble strips, hills and challenges for cyclists to tackle.

Visitors can also use this opportunity to clear out old bikes from their garage or shed and have them recycled for good causes by bringing them along and donating to The Bike Station team.

Adding to the event will be live music and flag giveaways, plus the stunning scenery of Loch Lomond will set it all off.

Clare Gemmell, Loch Lomond Shores’ General Manager, said: "I have had such fun getting this event together.

"I’ve been trying out some local cycle routes, and hope that we can get a local cycle group together on the back of the event.2

The event runs from 12noon until 4pm.

Most activities are drop-in, although some of the cycle sessions must be pre-booked.

Bikes can be supplied for visitors to give this a try – or they can bring their own along and blow off the cobwebs.
