LOMOND Park Hotel have lodged an objection to the building of eight cottage flats on land north of Craiglomond Gardens.

The application was submitted on June 20 earlier this year and notice was given to the surrounding properties in Craiglomond Gardens as well as the hotel. The hotel's objection was lodged on July 13.

If approved, the application would see the flats erected on vacant land within close proximity to the hotel, which means that any of the residents of the new flats may complain about noise form the hotel when there is live entertainment, this is one of the hotel's main objections.

Their letter read: "If developers are considering building a property on the proposed site then I feel that they must let potential residents aware of the noise that will be created by our business, so that they can make an informed decision before they commit to buy, so that complaints about noise cannot be raised at a later date."

It added: “I feel that the building of these flats should not take precedence over a well established business in the area that has been running for over 30 years.”

The second part of the objection was that adequate sound-proofing should be fitted in the flats to prevent any inconvenience thereafter "to either residents or the music venue."

Jim Lough, the agent who submitted the application, said: "The application is still pending with the park authority. My understanding is that there is more than one objection but we are dealing with those.

"We're looking into dealing with issues that may affect the residents of the flats once they're built and the residents of the surrounding area.”

A spokesperson for Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park said: “This application for eight housing units is currently under consideration by the National Park as Planning Authority. No decision has been taken at this time.

“The site has previously benefited from a planning permission and is allocated for housing in the Local Plan for the area.”
