A series of events are taking place across Dumbarton and the Vale as part of Volunteer Week aiming to get more people engaged in making a real difference in their community.

Local group West Dunbartonshire Community and Volunteering Services will be out and about in the community and will also be hosting a series of pop-up events for people to find out more about volunteering and ask volunteer brokers about opportunities that match your interests.

On Monday, June 5, the WDCVS team will be at the Artizan Community Hub in Dumbarton between 10am and 4pm, and they will be at the Vale Centre in Alexandria's Main Street the following day between 10am and 3.30pm.

They will also visit Gartocharn's Kilmaronock Millennium Hall on Wednesday, June 7 between 6pm and 8pm.

In total, there are more than 300 local community groups and charities across West Dunbartonshire and WDCVS say that there are opportunities in all sorts of positions, including canal clean-up, charity trustee positions or teaching disabled people to swim.
